What to ExpectEnjoying the Weekend
Early October is magical in Colorado. The mountains are alive with golden aspen leaves, and we hope you take advantage of all our area has to offer: scenic drives, local wineries, hiking, and the beauty of the North Fork Valley.
Fall Colors & Scenic Drives
If you’re traveling from out of town, the drives over Kebler Pass and McClure Pass are especially stunning during peak fall colors. Towering aspens turn brilliant shades of gold, making the journey part of the celebration itself. We highly recommend allowing extra time to stop, take photos, and soak it all in.
Dressing for the mountains
While the days can be sunny and mild, temperatures often drop in the evenings. Mountain weather can change quickly, so we encourage guests to dress in layers—think wraps, jackets, shawls, or suit coats that pair well with your mountain-formal attire. Comfortable footwear is also a great idea, as much of the weekend will take place outdoors.
Hiking and more
For those who love the outdoors, the area offers abundant hiking opportunities—from peaceful riverside walks to mountain trails with sweeping views. Whether you’re looking for a short stroll or a full adventure, there’s something for every pace.
Wineries
Paonia is known for its incredible local wineries, orchards, and farms. If you’re arriving early or staying a bit longer, we encourage you to explore the tasting rooms and enjoy the laid-back charm of the North Fork Valley.
